Debra Thoresen holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from Western Michigan University. She served as the director of the Arlington Public Schools' Elementary and Middle School String instrumental Music
Program from 1998-2004. During her tenure, two orchestras under her direction were chosen to perform at the 2003 and 2003 Massachusetts Music Educator's All-State Conferences as models of exemplary public school orchestras. Her elementary
orchestra chosen was the first in 27 years to receive the honor, while her middle school orchestra also earned the All-State Conference honors in 2003, as well as gold medal ratings in state festival competition. In addition to directing The Community
Youth Orchestras,
Ms. Thoresen is currently String Instrumental Music Director at Belmont Day School, Belmont and Orchestra Director at Concord
Academy, Concord, MA.
She has directed the summer music programs at Belmont Hill School and maintains a private piano studio.
